Presents

Cassandra received a couple of presents this weekend.  Here she is modeling...

This hat transforms into a purse when she outgrows it.

Kansas Wedding!

That's right, Ms. Party Animal is back for more.  Two weddings in two weeks.  The bride (Holly) has known Mommy since middle school.  (No asking how long ago that was!)  Anyway, it was an interesting evening.  Just like last weekend, Cassandra didn't really say much at the party.  She just kept looking around and taking it all in.

The Bride talking during the ceremony!
Jason feeding Holly some of the cake they just cut.  Notice the forks?  Classy!
I don't think I could feed Janice a piece of cake with a fork without stabbing her.
Just not that much coordination.
Holly was not the only middle school friend of Janice's at the party.  The picture below includes Holly's mom, the middle school girls, and their kids.  The funny part?  Two of the women in this picture married friends of mine.  In fact, Sharla (bottom right) introduced us.   In the back, left to right, is Jessica, Paula, Janice, and Sara.
Classmates
This picture includes the two gentlemen I referred to above, Evan and Robert with Sharla and Jessica on the outsides.

Mommy and Daddy were too busy talking to get many pictures this time.  Our friends and family took up three tables.  Of course, some people (Hi Luke) probably don't mind not being in a bunch of photos.

Sitting Up

Cassandra, after recovering from the 14+ hour trip to Ohio, has mastered the art of sitting up.

Trying To Situp

Cassandra is working on sitting up.  She does pretty well except that she still needs a back rest.  She keeps falling over backwards.

Not bad for someone who has been stuck in a car for over ten hours.

Ohio Wedding!

That's right, Ohio.  After last weekend's drive to Wichita, Daddy was not so sure this was a good idea.  Therefore, Cassandra's travel staff made some planing changes so that she could spend as much of the trip sleeping as possible.  We left KC a little before midnight (Daddy had a two hour nap after dinner).  Even though we were heading east, we didn't see the sun until our first gas stop.

We made it to Ohio on time and even with a few hours to spare.  It turns out that we didn't need the several extra hours budgeted for an upset little girl.  She slept more than usual but was fairly well behaved.  (Really, no meltdowns!)

Of course, on a trip like this, Cassandra is going to meet lots of family (and soon to be family).

Mommy's cousin Cathy and her husband Bill.
Cassandra's second cousin Carl and his (at the time) bride-to-be Lindsey.

Stupid Tee Shirt

Cassandra was given a tee shirt to wear while at KU Med.  She is now big enough to actually fill it out properly.

I was born and all I got was this stupid tee shirt.

Telling Mommy About My Day

Cassandra has begun to chew on everything she can get her hands on...including her hands.  Interestingly enough, she doesn't suck on her thumbs.  She gnaws on them.  She also gnaws on her plug.  Here is a 20 second video of her telling us about her day while gnawing on the plug.

Sorry about the lighting.  Our house really isn't this dark.

Tired!

Cassandra didn't want to go to sleep which was a bit of a problem as she was so tired that she was grumpy.  She was really being obnoxious, wiggling, and crying in order to stay awake.  Apparently, the effort to get her to sleep caused me to drop off as well.  See Janice's handiwork below.

Spring Has Sprung Part II

Don Juan is blooming.  This climbing rose was donated to us last fall and it clearly likes its new home.  It is amazing how much stuff we have fit in our back yard and a lot of it has been hand-me-downs.

Toes!

Cassandra has taken the discovery of her toes as the greatest thing since bottles.  She loves to yank on them and they are great to gnaw on.  She must get her flexibility from Mommy because I sure can't do that.

Entertaining The Family

The Hodges clan assembled for Mother's Day tonight and afterword, Cassandra did her level best to entertain the family.

Spring Has Sprung

Harison's Yellow has gone crazy.  It is amazing as this plant was a small cutting just a few years ago.

I Found My Toes

Cassandra's latest discovery is toes.  She has now realized that she can put her feet up in the air and grab them.  She thinks it is great fun to roll from side to side while holding onto her feet.  The interesting thing is that she doesn't remove her socks this way.  That task she accomplishes by rubbing her feet together.

Early Mother's Day

Since the entire family was in town (Uncle Greg was attending a wedding), it was decided to celebrate Mother's Day early.  As part of the festivities, we sat down at Papa Bob's Bar-B-Que for lunch.  Uncle Greg, Uncle Doug, Grandpa Wendel, and Daddy all shared the Ultimate Destroyer.  The entire meal includes 4.5 lbs of meat and 1.5 lbs of fries.  As to the meat, there were seven types:
  1. pulled pork,
  2. hickory smoked sliced pork,
  3. hickory smoked ham,
  4. hickory smoked turkey breast,
  5. hickory smoked hamburgers,
  6. hickory smoked beef brisket, and
  7. hickory smoked sausage.

We all left full.
