On A Mission

Continuing a tradition, an Easter egg hunt was planned at Grandma and Papa Hodges' home for the kids after Easter dinner.  Cassandra looks so determined to find eggs...I have a hard time not laughing at the focused intensity on her face.

Easter Photos

Here are our Easter pictures.  Cassandra really didn't want to be held...but we think she looks cute anyway.

Easter Bunny Stopped By...

Cassandra found a gift basket this morning but was disappointed to have missed the Easter Bunny...

That said, she was able to console herself with a couple of presents...

Time To Color Eggs

Cassandra loves "traditional family activities" around holidays, especially if it resembles an art project.  Case in point is today when eggs were being colored.  While I stayed at home and worked on the house, Mom took Cassandra over to Grandma's to color eggs with the extended family.  If you see the picture at the bottom, you can see three and a half dozen eggs.  Not quite an assembly line but still a lot of eggs and twelve colors to choose from.  Fortunately, you need a half dozen hard boiled eggs for pasta or potato salad.

Yum! Easter Cookies

And what Easter would be complete without treats.  That's right, it's time to make Easter cookies.  Cassandra loves helping in the kitchen...although for the most part, helping means she stands on the step-stool and doesn't cause trouble.  Mom has already made the dough and is rolling it flat on the counter.  Cassandra helps Mom at this stage by picking out the cookie cutter shapes.

Cassandra also helps with the decorating.  It is so fun to here her saying, "Shake, shake, shake, cookies!"  Looking at her face, I almost want to laugh.  She is so serious.

The baker and little helper.  I think it is funny how Cassandra's face goes blank every time I try to take a picture.  Hard to believe our next one will arrive in two months or so.

Vincent's Birthday Party - Train Theme Addition

So Cassandra is not the only one who is nuts for Thomas.  Vincent decided that Thomas the Tank Engine was the theme to build a birthday party around.

Coloring With Friends

Being Silly With The Birthday Boy
One of the games was "Pin the Caboose on the Train" which Cassandra thought was rather silly.  After watching a couple of other kids, she decided to give it a try.

Cassandra had a lot of fun.  She got to see several kids she doesn't see very often, got out of the house, and got to have fun with trains.  That being said, by the end of the party, she was ready for a nap.  She might have had too many sweets.

Cassandra Loves The Muppets

And who can blame her?  Actually, it really shouldn't be surprising given her parents taste in entertainment.  This is Cassandra watching The Great Muppet Caper during Piggy's big scene.  She is called in to replace an "injured" model and she starts to daydream on her trip down the runway.  The daydream turns into a big song and dance number (and includes synchronized swimming "dancers"), so a very large production.  This film eventually became known in our house as "Piggy fall in the water."

Daddy's Birthday

Cassandra was excited today because "everyone" was coming over for a party.  It doesn't matter what the reason for the party is, just that she gets to see family...I think she gets tired of Mom and Dad all the time.

Cassandra saw the LEGO sign and decided to come over and help.  The box was bigger than her but that was no deterrent.  She asked if she could help put it together.

As she has been trained to do, she is taking the bow from presents and putting it on her head.

Fun And Disappointment At The Grocery Store

In looking at grocery store adds, we found out that the Wienermobile would be visiting the grocery store near church.  I thought this was a must go event while Janice thought I was weird.  In the end, I was able to prevail because it was kind of rainy and we had nothing important we needed to get done.

Cassandra like looking through the hole in the hot dog to have her picture taken.

Cassandra was curious about the hot dog on wheels.   She did say uh-oh when she saw the interior.  The carpet looks like it was splattered with condiments.  She was gravely disappointed that she wasn't allowed loose inside to push all the buttons and try all the seats.

Mommy Made Waffles

How do you make Cassandra smile?  You feed her homemade waffles!
