Las Vegas Wedding

Janice and I traveled to Las Vegas early this morning.  Our early departure was the reason that Grandma and Grandpa were over for dinner last night.  Their staying at our place allowed Cassandra to sleep her normal schedule and it saved them the trouble of baby-proofing their house.

Our visit to LV was prompted by one of my college friends (finally) getting married.  All I can say is that Debi fits right in.  Now, on to a picture of the happy couple...

Here is Debi giving Brian "the look."  It almost looks like a "don't make me kill you on our wedding night" look but she slipped it on so quickly and smoothly, Brian must have done something previously that allowed her to practice.

And here is what the cake looked like before it was cut.

Dinner With Grandma and Grandpa

Cassandra invited Grandma and Grandpa over for dinner.  She enjoys having company over.  Truth be told, she is much more social at home than out in public.  Strawberries are part of dessert and Cassandra polished hers off.  Interestingly enough, she calls them "berbies" just like daddy did when he was little.

Cassandra also had to fend off the tickle monster at dinner.  She tried not to laugh but ultimately was unsuccessful.

After dinner, she changed into PJs.  Just for kicks and grins, we tried a pony tail.  Not really enough hair for that yet.  Plus, her hair is so fine nothing wants to stay.

Ice Cream

We had cupcakes for Uncle Steve's birthday but not Cassandra.  She didn't want the birthday cupcakes.  Ice cream was a different story.

Cassandra likes ice cream and she has gotten to the point where she can feed it to herself...sort of.  Ice cream also makes a good substitution for war paint.

Cassandra is a bit disappointed that she can't get any more spoonfuls out of the bowl.

Kind of looks like she is trying to play the spoon like a flute.

I Love Trains

And now for something different...

We took Cassandra to Fritz's Railroad Restaurant to see how she would react given how much she has enjoyed the LEGO train we setup.  She didn't eat much.  She was too busy train watching.

She scarfed down the leftovers later so we know she liked the food.  She is just easily distracted by new things that move on their own.

Spiky Hair

Cassandra's fine hair continues to grow...and go everywhere.  If we remember to take a camera with us, we'll post a picture of her when she emerges from one of the plastic tunnel slides.

I'm wondering if we should dress her as a punk rocker for Halloween this year.  Given how her hair behaves, all we would need to do is add a little color.  Given her personality, she'd enjoy that.  Actually, I think the hard part might be explaining to her that we don't need to color her hair every day.

More "New" Toys

As mentioned previously, we are bringing her Christmas and Birthday toys out slowly.  The latest one is the Kitchen.

Just like in real life, eggs are a favorite.  Eventually, we will have to teach her to keep her hands off of the burner.

Apparently, it needs a bit more time in the microwave before it is done.

Grins and Laughs

Like most children, Cassandra can find some rather odd things funny.  I was playing golf on the Wii the other day and she started cracking up.  Janice said it was because my form was so bad.

I know my form is horrible (too much time playing baseball) but she for some reason finds it hilarious.  I've no idea why.  We've never prompted her to laugh at golf.  It's just one of those things.

Cassandra received some garden tools for Easter.  She seems to like them.  I think she wants to go outside and use them NOW!

Dyeing Easter Eggs

Cassandra took Mommy over to Aunt Kristi's today to dye Easter eggs.  She had lots of fun...even if she did get distracted by the doggy.  Frankly, when Molly is around, the eggs take a back seat.

Notice the shirt she is wearing.  If she gets and dye on that, who would notice?  Casandra also got to spend some time with Grandma.

The Empress really believes in being hands on, not letting her staff do everything for her.  Here she is dropping an egg into the dye.

The eggs ended up being a lot of fun...but Cassandra won't eat a hard boiled egg.  Mommy and Daddy will have to deal with the dozen eggs without help.

Favorite Fruit

When we sat down for breakfast Tuesday, Cassandra was given a quarter of Mommy's pear.  She quickly downed what she had been given and started pointing and reaching for the rest of the pear on Mommy's plate.  By the time breakfast was over, Cassandra had eaten three quarters of the pear.  Since pears are Mommy's favorite fruit, I'm not too horribly surprised.

Today, when we sat siting down for breakfast today, Cassandra was again given pears.  She finished rather quickly and I commented to Janice that Cassandra like pears more than she does.  Janice told me I was wrong.  I asked Cassandra if she like pears more than Mommy and she nodded her head.  Mommy didn't believe her and repeated the question.  Same response.

Easter Egg Hunt At School

Cassandra had an Easter egg hunt at school today.  She was her usual self.  Here she is participating:

 Here she is getting distracted:

And here she is, not sitting still for a picture:

I suppose that I should mention Daddy had just arrived because he had trouble getting away from work.  These two pictures were separated by me putting her back in line and Cassandra getting back up.  She has figured out that even if you are out wandering, you don't put your eggs down.

After the egg hunt, we went inside for the "party."  Among other items, the kids had cookies that Cassandra had helped with.  She seems rather proud of that fact.

And here is another picture of Cassandra not staying in her seat.  She likes to pace and wander like Daddy.

Award Winning Blooms?

Harison's yellow has bloomed.  Cassandra is very excited because it is yellow.  She really likes yellow.

She Said No!

Cassandra is an interesting child.  She doesn't say either "yes" or "no" but shakes and nods her head.  Tonight, when we asked her to do something, she said "No!"  This was a big shock to us as she has been shaking her head for a long time.  This has been a big week for her as far as new words are concerned.  She is starting to say her colors as well.  So far, we have heard yellow, blue, purple, and as of today, pink.  I think it helps that those were the color of sugar that she helped put on the Easter cookies.

Easter Cookies

Mommy decided to make cookies and Cassandra agreed to help.  I'm not sure what she enjoys more, being up high enough to see the counter or playing with the sugar sprinkles.

Cassandra is learning her colors.  What is funny is if you ask her what color something is, her standard answer is "lellow."   She just really likes to say this word.

She can say yellow, purple, and blue.

Easter Egg Hunt

Today, we had our Easter Egg Hunt at church.  Given Cassandra was 15 months old this year, we were able to stand back and let her loose.  She quickly filled up her basket and as you can see, it was a target rich environment.

Unfortunately, she did step on one egg.  Take a look at the face she is making while saying "uh, oh."

And finally, what toddler outing would be complete without the toddler getting distracted?
